Journey 2027

The Journeymen Chorus is thrilled to announce our plan to enter and compete in the 2026 Land O’Lakes District barbershop contest, with the goal of qualifying to perform in the 2027 Barbershop Harmony Society’s International Chorus Contest.

Formed in 2022, The Journeymen Chorus has a mission to create great men’s vocal harmony that positively impacts audiences and fosters fun, brotherhood, and lasting relationships among our members. Up to now, entering the competitive barbershop world was not something we seriously considered.

Then, a crazy thing happened….

In early 2024, BHS announced that Minneapolis would host the 2027 convention for the first time since 1985. After much careful thought and planning, our chorus decided that the unique opportunity to perform in front of the world’s largest and greatest barbershop audience, with both a relatively low cost barrier, and the venue in our own back yard, was too great to pass up.

Our goal will be to carefully blend this singular competitive journey into our ongoing seasonal model, while continuing to prioritize our unique rehearsal cadence, our membership values, audition processes, and audience-focused programming. In short, contest preparation will become an enhancement—not a replacement—for our ongoing artistic goals.

We look forward to what will surely be an amazing "Journey 2027" and are excited to share it with our audiences as we go along.
