Scott Perau

Artistic Director

Scott Perau directs the choirs of Red Wing High School. A graduate of UW-River Falls in 2008 with a degree in Choral Music Education, Scott studied voice and conducting with Dr. Jong-Won Park, and also earned his Masters of Education in 2017 from UWRF. Scott is in his 17th year of teaching, with the last 11 years at Red Wing High School.

At RWHS, Scott directs four curricular choirs, an extracurricular a cappella choir, and vocal music/pit orchestra for the annual high school musicals. Throughout his career, many of Scott’s students have been selected for regional and state honors choirs, and multiple soloists, small ensembles, and choirs have received top ratings at contests. 

Outside of the classroom, Scott keeps a busy schedule as the artistic director of the Journeymen Chorus, co-Director of the Red Wing Community Men’s Chorus,, and choir Director at First Presbyterian Church of Red Wing, Minnesota. Scott is also in demand as a choral clinician, adjudicator, and quartet coach. As a performer, Scott sings bass with the award winning barbershop Quartet, CHORD SMASH!.

Choirs under Scott’s direction have performed at professional conventions three times, including WCDA (Wisconsin Choral Directors Association) convention in 2015 with his Somerset High School Concert Choir, ACDA of Minnesota  convention in 2024 with The Journeymen Chorus, and MMEA (Minnesota Music Educators Association) convention in 2025 with the Red Wing High School Concert Choir.

Personally, Scott resides in the beautiful city of Red Wing, MN, with his wife and three children. Outside of the classroom, Scott is an avid fisherman and a huge Minnesota sports fan.
